The 2024 Graham County 4-H Poultry Show was held on Saturday, October 20th, in conjunction with Graham County Farmers Market. All participants are members of the Graham County 4-H Poultry Club which completed a poultry project. In April, 4-Her’s received six chicks and participated in an educational program to learn about poultry and showmanship. Youth were required to return one bird for processing. On processing day, youth who opt to participate learn about internal chicken anatomy & how chickens are processed for consumption. Many participants were excited to take their birds home for cooking! As the final part of the project, youth were required to participate in Graham County 4-H’s annual poultry show. Youth were judged on their poultry knowledge and showmanship skills. This year, Addilyn Hyde and her pullet “Goldie” took home 1st place. Addilyn enjoys raising chickens and she is becoming quite the young poultry farmer!
