Big Day at the Fair!

Local beekeeper Alan Wamsley recently won both first place and “Best in Show” for his light sourwood honey at the Swain County Fair.  Alan’s dark honey display came in a close second.

Alan is fairly new to beekeeping and has only been producing honey for a couple of years.  As owner of “The Simple Life” Campground in Robbinsville, NC, Alan treats his guests with his delicious product, which in turn, keeps them coming back for more.  While Alan certainly understands the important role pollinators play in food production, he also strives to offer natural products that are healthy for his customers.

In addition to beekeeping, Alan is also in the beginning stages of developing a small apple orchard, with which he hopes to offer guests an added “mountain” experience in the fall.

“The Simple Life” Campground is located at 88 Lower Mountain Creek Rd. in Robbinsville.  Alan welcomes visitors and would love to show you around, so stop by and pay him a visit.

Congratulations Alan on your award-winning honey!
