Graham County 4-H Poultry Club recently hosted a successful Poultry Processing Demonstration and Poultry Show in conjunction with Graham County Farmers Market.
Feathers, Food, and Future Leaders: 4-H Poultry Project in Action
The event began with an educational poultry processing demonstration led by local farmers, Terri & Jeff Phillips. Participants were walked through each step of humane and safe poultry processing. The demonstration provided an engaging, hands-on way for 4-H members to connect lessons in agriculture, food systems, and animal science.
Following the demonstration, 4-H members presented their poultry projects in the annual 4-H Poultry Show. Many thanks to Doug Clement, Extension Director from N.C. Cooperative Extension - Cherokee County Center, for judging exhibitors in showmanship classes. All youth did an outstanding job presenting their projects, but division winners went home with additional ribbons and premium awards.
